Overview

As the Lead Concept Designer, I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to create "Seasons," an immersive new media installation. The exhibit features a massive, wraparound screen that transitions through the four seasons, illustrating the cyclical nature of agriculture. Our goal was to bridge the gap between urban life and the heritage of the land, specifically for children and adults who have had little exposure to farming.

Connecting to the Land

In an increasingly urbanized world, many grow up disconnected from the origins of their food and the rhythms of nature. "Seasons" serves as a digital bridge back to these roots. By depicting shifting landscapes—from the first buds of spring to the dormant beauty of winter—the installation helps visitors appreciate the effort and environmental factors involved in traditional farming.

The Experience

The exhibition hall accommodates up to 50 people simultaneously, featuring interactive screens across three walls to create a fully panoramic environment.

Interactive Features:

  • Multi-User Engagement: The system includes multiple trigger points, allowing groups of visitors to interact with farm animals and crops at the same time, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere.
  • Dynamic Content: Visitors can "activate" different elements of the farm, seeing how specific agricultural tasks are performed in different weather conditions.

Inclusive Design

A core part of our process was ensuring the installation was accessible to all. We conducted user research to determine the optimal interaction height and touch methods, ensuring that both young children and adults could comfortably reach and engage with the digital elements. This focus on ergonomics allowed for a seamless, frustration-free exploration of the agricultural year.
